Privacy Policy

We, the Czech Association of Iyengar Yoga z.s., located at Rabštejnská 1584/43, Bolevec, 323 00 Plzeň, ID: 26624486, registered in the Commercial Register maintained by the Regional Court in Plzeň, section L, insert 3715 (hereinafter referred to as “we” or “association”), the operator of the website http://jogaiyengar.cz/ , an organization uniting those interested in yoga according to Guruji BKS Iyengar and the organizer of regular teacher examinations and certifications, declare that all personal data of members and teachers are considered strictly confidential and are handled in accordance with applicable legal provisions on personal data protection.

Personal Data and Its Processing

Personal data is any information about an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable natural person is someone who can be identified, directly or indirectly, particularly by reference to an identifier (such as a name, identification number, location data, network identifier) or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity of that natural person.

On our websites http://jogaiyengar.cz/ and http://konference.jogaiyengar.cz/ , you are not tracked in any way. We only learn personal data about you that you explicitly share with us.

The security of your personal data is our priority. We therefore pay proper attention to personal data and its protection. In this Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as “Policy”), we inform you about:

  • What personal data of yours we process and will process;
  • For what purposes, in what way, and on what legal basis we will process your personal data;
  • To whom your personal data may be passed;
  • For how long we will process your personal data; and
  • What rights you have in connection with the protection of your personal data.

I. Personal Data Processed

If you decide to become a member of the association, you will provide your personal data via an application form, where you will be asked to fill in certain details about yourself. These details primarily include:

  1. Name and surname;
  2. Date of birth;
  3. Residence or contact address;
  4. Email address;
  5. Telephone number;

If you decide to become an Iyengar Yoga teacher, you will be asked to fill in certain details about yourself using a REGISTRATION FORM FOR EXAMS, primarily:

  1. Name and surname;
  2. Address;
  3. Email address;
  4. Telephone number;
  5. Photograph;
  6. Information about health limitations;

As part of fulfilling the obligations of a member of the association and a teacher, you will be required to fill in the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Index to renew your license each year, in connection with which the following data will be processed:

  1. Name and surname;
  2. Address;
  3. Email address;
  4. Telephone number;

In cases where you are our statutory representative/executive representative, our legitimate interest is requesting that you provide personal data in the scope below for the purpose of self-presentation of our association. These details are:

  1. Name, surname, academic title;
  2. Email address;

If you register for an event organized by the association, we will request the following information for the organization of this event:

  1. Name and surname;
  2. Email address;
  3. Telephone number;
  4. Information about health limitations;

II. Purpose of Processing Personal Data:

The association, as the data controller, processes personal data that you have provided or will provide based on that: a) You give consent to process your personal data for one or more specific purposes, primarily for sending our newsletter, for the purpose of sending information about association events, processing your photographs for association promotion, processing information about your health status for evaluation during teacher exams, and this consent can be withdrawn at any time as indicated in the given consent; b) Processing is necessary to fulfill the association’s statutes, the conditions under the auspices of Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI), processing is necessary to fulfill a contract – ensuring the sending of the print magazine Joga Rahasya, or otherwise; processing is necessary for organizing Iyengar yoga teacher exams; processing needed for organizing conferences. c) Processing is necessary to fulfill the legal obligation that applies to the association, especially maintaining accreditation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, obligation to maintain legally required accounting and retain tax documents; d) Processing is necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests of the association or a third party, where the association publishes the contact details of certified teachers and statutory representatives on its websites.

III. Who Has Access to Customer’s Personal Data

The association primarily handles and processes personal data as a controller.

To fulfill its contractual obligations, the association may, in accordance with applicable and effective legal regulations, pass your personal data to a third party to process it on behalf of the association (typically: service subcontractor – e.g., online service provider that sends newsletters – MailChimp, data storage provider GoogleDrive…).

To fulfill its contractual obligations, the association may transfer your personal data to a third country, typically under the auspices of Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI), 1107 B/1 Hare Krishna Mandir Road, Model Colony, Shivaji Nagar, Pune – 411 016, Maharashtra, INDIA, publisher of Iyengar Yogashraya magazine, Elmac House, 126 Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai – 400013, Maharashtra, INDIA.

If there’s no decision by the Commission regarding adequate data protection in these countries, the association has secured appropriate data protection guarantees contractually, with appropriate guarantees and means to obtain a copy of your data or information on where your data was made available.

The association carefully selects its subcontractors and cooperators, who are bound to the association in accordance with legal provisions for confidential handling of your personal data.

Your personal data is not sold, transferred or disclosed by the association or any subcontractors or cooperators to third parties, unless you have given prior consent.

IV. Cookies

If you add a comment on our website, you may choose to have your name, email address, and website saved in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you won’t need to fill in your details again when adding another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login details and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

V. Duration of Personal Data Processing

The association will process your personal data for the duration that you are a member of the association or as long as the association provides you services or fulfill a mutual contract. Furthermore, for as long as the association, as a controller, is authorized to retain personal data under generally binding legal regulations. Personal data obtained based on your consent for purposes: (i) Sending commercial communications – particularly newsletter/printed catalog; or (ii) for the purpose of association promotion, (iii) for evaluation purposes during teacher exams, we will retain until you withdraw your consent to retain them, but no longer than 5 years from the date of granting. In other cases, the processing duration arises from the processing purpose or is determined by legal regulations in personal data protection.

VI. Customer’s Rights Regarding Personal Data Processing

Regarding personal data processing, you have the following rights:

  1. Right to access personal data;
  2. Right to rectification;
  3. Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”);
  4. Right to restriction of processing;
  5. Right to object to processing;
  6. Right to data portability; and
  7. Right to lodge a complaint about personal data processing.

You can exercise all rights by contacting the association at the email address: pr@jogaiyengar.cz , or by written notice to the association’s headquarters.

The association will inform you of measures taken, or why measures were not taken, or otherwise satisfy your request without undue delay, within a maximum 30-day period.

Personal data processing is under the supervision of the Office for Personal Data Protection (www.oouu.cz ), where you can also lodge a complaint via an email sent to posta@uoou.cz , filing through the data box qkbaa2n or in writing to Office for Personal Data Protection, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7.

Right of access means you may request confirmation from the association whether personal data concerning you are being processed, and if so, you have the right to access them and further to information on their purposes of processing, the scope, recipients, the duration for which the association will process them, whether you have the right to rectification, erasure, or restriction of processing, or the right to object, the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, the source from which the association obtained the personal data and whether there is automated decision-making, including profiling, based on processing your personal data.

Right to rectification means you can request the association to correct or complete your personal data anytime if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

Right to erasure means that the association is obliged to erase your personal data if (i) they are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed, (ii) processing is unlawful, (iii) you object to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for processing, or (iv) it is required by law.

Right to restriction of processing means that until any disputed issues regarding the processing of your personal data are resolved, the association must restrict the processing of your personal data.

Right to object means you may object to the processing of personal data that the association processes for direct marketing purposes. If you object to processing for direct marketing purposes, your personal data will no longer be processed for these purposes.

Right to data portability means you have the right to receive personal data concerning you, which you have provided to a controller, and the right to transmit those data to another controller.

These Privacy Policies are effective from April 11, 2025.
